Coaching with EGSL

Coaching with Escondido Girls Softball League (EGSL) is a rewarding way to make a lasting impact on young athletes while supporting a fun, positive, and competitive softball environment. EGSL coaches help players develop fundamental softball skills, confidence, teamwork, and a love for the game—all while creating memories that last far beyond the season.

No prior coaching experience is required. EGSL provides support, resources, and guidance to help coaches succeed at every level. Whether you’re a former player, a softball fan, or simply a parent looking to get involved, coaching is a great way to give back to the league and the community.

If you’re passionate about mentoring young athletes and helping them grow both on and off the field, we’d love to have you join the EGSL coaching team! Interested candidates should email the Division Director for more information.

Score Keeping

Teams should identify an individual(s) to become familiar with GameChanger to score games. Coaches should setup teams and add players in accordance with EGSL guidelines. Example: "EGSL 12U Storm". A free version of GameChanger can be downloaded at https://gc.com/. Home teams in 8u, 10u, 12u & 14u must keep the "official scorebook" via GameChanger. The majority of teams score both home and away games in GameChanger for tracking and comparison purposes. In addition, home teams operate the electronic scoreboards at the fields. Coaches should work with parent volunteers to fill these roles.

Reporting the Score

Coaches will receive an email from Team Sideline immediately after the game asking to report your score. Only the winning coach should submit the score, based on the official scorebook (via Gamechanger). Comments are required; you may comment on specific plays/players/or team as a whole. Please enter comments about both teams. For 14u coaches only, if you are playing a Super League game, you are required to report the score regardless of win or lose. If you are playing an EGSL team, only the winning coach should
